Sumitomo Electric Industries has set up a small-scale production line at its Osaka Works R&D center to produce the battery-boosting material, Aluminum-Celmet and this development is an outgrowth of its previous work on similar nickel and nickel-chromium materials that they branded as Celmet. The resulting Aluminum-Celmet has a whopping 98 percent porosity rate, leaving the Li-ion gate wide-open for a flood of electrical juice and this piece de porous non-resistance has a steep corrosive threshold that could soon help power a line of high-capacity, small form rechargeable batteries…………

Taipei City Government was recently alerted to Google’s Android Market return policies, that violate Taiwanese consumer protection laws requiring any product bought over the internet to have at least a 7-day trial period and gave Google a 15-day ultimatum to revise its app return policies to include the mandatory 7-day trial period. Telecom giant Nokia and conglomerate Siemens are moving to restructure a joint venture in telecommunications networking equipment after failing to acquire a controlling stake in it and two private equity groups, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and TPG Capital already dropped out of the auction to take over from Nokia as the controlling partner in NSN. Facebook puts the company’s value at $70 billion, but just last week Facebook was worth $84 billion and GSV Capital Corp. announced that it has bought 225,000 shares in Facebook at an average price of $29.28 per share. The price per shares is actually a bit lower than recent transactions for Facebook in private trades on markets and GSV becomes the latest plain big investment fund to try their hand at buying shares of hot, private companies such as Facebook, Zynga and Groupon……….

Nikon engaged in a bit of conceptual product. Nikon isn’t exactly a company I associate with out there designs and concept devices. The company does design some though and has several concepts and prototypes on display in France at the Hello Demain exhibition.
