Samsung has officially announced LTE versions of the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Tab 8.9 ahead of their IFA debut and the Galaxy SII LTE adding the aforementioned LTE capabilities, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. The Tab remains otherwise unchanged, rocking the same 1200 x 800 screen and super-svelte (8.6mm thick) design and pricing, release dates, and regional availability are all still not known……………
Facebook has announced an upcoming event on September 22 and it could be the release of the iPad App. Facebook holds f8 when the website has something to talk about that developers will care about and the f8 conference typically starts off with a keynote by Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, followed by various breakout sessions concentrating on specific topics………….

Kyoto-based Nichicon has now developed what they say are the world’s smallest and chargers for these vehicles, the NQC-A202 and the NQC-A302, both chargers are sized at just 150x35x60cm, about 50% smaller than existing devices. By using what the company calls advanced module technology, it was able to shrink its EV charger down by 50 percent to around 59 x 13.8 x 23.6 inches and reducing the weight by up to 66 percent. These 20-30kW chargers will work with electric vehicles like Mitsubishi’s i-MiEV and the Nissan Leaf, taking between 35 and 60 minutes to fully power your whip…………..

New Rumors have cropped up suggesting the arrival of an Apple-branded television set, based on its iOS operating system, as early as 2012 and in an interview with VentureBeat, cited multiple sources, including component suppliers and internal Apple source to back up his prediction. The Apple television project with iOS installed inside would do more than just show video and it would also be able to things like run iOS apps, check your ongoing schedule, play games and more………….

BeBook has announced a new ereader, which is an update of the current model BeBook Club and the new ebook will include an enhanced screen with Pearl eInk, a faster processor and improved battery life. Bebook Club S features a six inch Pearl e-Ink display. It has 1 GB of internal Flash storage but you can boost it to 32 GB via the SD card and it runs a 800 MHZ processor which is on par with the new Nook Simple Touch and Kobo Touch. Apple has awarded Tim Cook 1 million shares in the Cupertino tech giant, which at Friday’s closing stock price of $383.58 a share is worth about $383 million and Apple announced the stock bonus in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that also offers up more information on the contract that Apple has signed with Cook. The announcement of the share transfer will put an end to speculation that Mr Cook had been appointed as an interim figure and he is likely to stay with the company for at least 10 years…………….

Skype appears to have launched a new app directory in the cloud, allowing users to access all the third-party apps for both consumers and businesses built on top of Skype’s API and the site is fairly simple in functionality for now. Skype has sorted both consumer apps and business into groups by genre and featured the top downloaded free and paid apps, top rated apps and the newest apps across the board and by genre. Skype members don’t actually buy or download the apps through Skype, but instead are directed to developer websites or app stores where they can get the software and Skype provides a landing page that gives more information about the application, release date, star rating and comments, features, requirements, screenshots and more…………….

New York City is evacuating 250,000 low-lying coastal areas and closing its subway system over the weekend, prompting Apple to shutdown at least four of its retail stores as well and Apple has closed their Fifth Avenue, West 14th Street, West Upper Side and SoHo stores. Apple has removed the ability to rent TV shows from both iTunes and its Apple TV, taking away what was just last year one of the major advertised selling points of the $99 streaming-centric set-top box, introduced the ability to rent certain episodes of television programs for $0.99 each last September. Apple recently flipped the switch on streaming purchases for its relatively new second generation Apple TV and it appears 99-cent rentals didn’t move the needle, so we’ll wait and see what the folks from Cupertino have up their sleeve next……………
