OCZ has launched the RevoDrive Hybrid, a PCI Express-based storage solution combining SDD and HDD drives on one PCIe card and by ypassing the SATA bottleneck, OCZ’s RevoDrive Hybrid promises transfer speeds up to 910 MB/s and up to 120,000 IOPS (4K random write). The SSD aspect reportedly uses a SandForce SF-2281 controller and the hard drive platters spin at 5,400rpm, which makes good use of the company’s proprietary Virtualized Controller Architecture. It will take some real-world benchmarking to determine whether the promised speed gain is worth our wages and comes with a fairly hefty price tag of $499…………….

Volvo and Siemens aid they plan a partnership to develop electric vehicles and aim to start testing the autos by the end of this year. The first of Volvo’s vehicles to be fitted with a Siemens electric drive motor will hit test tracks by the end of 2011 and the Swedish automaker will deliver up to 200 vehicles to Siemens to be evaluated under real-world conditions. he two manufacturers are collaborating on vehicles equipped with electric drive motors, in particular Siemens’s C30 DRIVe and tests will begin later this year with 200 vehicles set to be delivered in late 2012 for evaluation under real-life conditions……………..

CyberLink has developed and now made available the PowerDVD Mobile, an all-in-one media player for tablets running Android Honeycomb and with PowerDVD Mobile people can create playlists and organize their media collection, stream media from a PC with PowerDVD installed, wirelessly save MP4 videos, photos and music from PowerDVD on the PC and also watch videos, listen to music. The software sells for $20 in the Android Market, although users of PowerDVD 11 Ultra may activate a free version with a code that’s provided in the desktop version of their software……………..

Apple has a new television ad out that highlights some of the ways in which people can educate themselves with the iPad 2 and the ad eatures the same, simple theme as its predecessors. Throughout the commercial, people are holding the iPad and using touch gestures to manipulate applications and learn more about topics that the voice-over is discussing. This ad really does showcase some of the benefits of having an iPad in the classroom, where students can be engaged with the content they’re learning and nearly all the teachers are walking around with a 9.7-inch tablet………………..

Toyota Motorsport Group’s PV001 EV set a record for fastest electric vehicle on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and this beats the previous electric car time by a healthy margin and puts Toyota’s electric racer on par with the lap times recorded by vehicles like the Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Turbo, but is still a ways off the any-powertrain-goes record of 6:48. The just-bested EV record was set by Peugeot’s EX1 earlier this year at 9.01:33 and the EX1 averaged a rather impressive 85.9 miles per hour on the grueling track. Toyota hopes the victory will bring new awareness to electric racing and perhaps to help sell custom race cars in the future and the project is a valuable chance to test high-performance electric powertrains in a real motorsport environment, giving TMG’s engineer’s a chance to learn more about cooling, battery performance, motor performance, durability, etc……………

Apple has just seeded iOS 5 beta 7 to developers via OTA and it is not in the dev center just yet. In addition to iOS 5 Beta 7, Apple has pushed Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 7, iTunes 10.5 beta 7, and Apple TV Software beta 6 and if you’re a developer, you should update but you want to keep your jailbreak on iOS 5 you should wait……………….
