Sony has launched their subscription based music service for Android and their own Sony Tablet S Android 3.1 Honeycomb tablet and the new service charges you a monthly fee to access some 10 million music tracks using your Android device or any other Sony Music Unlimited approved devices. A tablet version of PlayStation Store has also been released, allowing officially certified games to be purchased and downloaded to the device, the music service was offered on its new tablets slightly after they were launched because more time was required for development……………..

It was only two weeks ago when an Xbox 720 logo was spotted in the film Real Steel, adding more fuel to the speculation that Microsoft may unveil the Xbox 360 successor next year at E3 2012 and it was further teased by some recent LinkedIn profiles of Microsoft employees that vaguely revealed specific positions in relation to next-gen Xbox development. Multiple sources across the industry, from processor chip manufacturers to middleware firms, have told Develop they expect the console to be fully unveiled at E3 2013 and the collection of data points to a 2013 launch for the system across all main regions, though early 2014 remains a possibility.Also there have been various signs that indicate that an Xbox 720 is in the works and Microsoft stating that the Xbox 360 is considered the Xbox 720 to them…………………….

Sprint has just officially announced the Motorola Admiral, the first Android smartphone in their growing Direct Connect lineup and the Admiral takes a 1.2GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, and 3G hotspot support and also wraps it all in a mil-spec 810G compliant body. The ADMIRAL runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Motorola’s custom interface and it has the Quickoffice document editor app pre-installed If you’ve been waiting for a rough-and-tumble smartphone that lets you bark orders to your crew as well as it lets you fire off a few emails, the Admiral may be worth a second glance and Sprint will offer the Motorola ADMIRAL on October 23 for $99.99 after rebate with a new two-year agreement………………..

NJ Governor Chris Christie announced that the third largest transit system in the country has partnered with Google to bring their wireless Wallet payment system to bus routes and rail lines in the Northeast, customers will be able to tap their Nexus S 4Gs at a handful of venues to fast-track their daily commute. Integrating contactless payments into transit systems certainly isn’t a new concept, but it’s one that’s expected to drive NFC adoption in areas where public transport is a way of life and commuters will be able to use the handset to quickly purchase tickets in a tap-and-go fashion at New York Penn Station, Newark Liberty International Airport Rail Station and several bus lines including the 120, 87, 81, 80, 43, 6 and 126……………….

Vodafone brings ARM and Ubuntu together for South African Webbook, which have a 10-inch laptop running Ubuntu 11.10 on a Cortex A8-based Freescale i.MX51 processor (likely 800MHz). Inside is also 512MB of RAM and 4GB of flash storage, enough for basic browsing and the Webbook is available now, starting at R1,499 (about $190) for just the device and also climbing up to R1,899 (about $245) for the Webbook, modem and 100MB of monthly data for 12 months, there’s also an on-contract option, which nets you the pile of hardware, plus 500MB of data for R189 a month and a two year commitment………………..

Say hello to Lytro, a new consumer-grade camera capable of focusing on multiple points in an image with eye-popping accuracy after you’ve snapped the picture and the Lytro camera is small, not that expensive, and it will most probably change the way that (at least some) people take photos. Lytro images can be viewed in 3D, something the company demonstrates with 3D TVs and the image information will be recorded for anyone who buys a Lytro camera, but the ability to view the 3D versions will come later with a future version of the company’s software. It’ll ship in two versions: the $399 8GB flavor can hold 350 pictures and comes in graphite or blue with a $499 16GB model, which sports an electric-red finish and stores up to 750 images………………..

ARM has launched the Cortex-A7 MPCore processor, which is aid to be the most energy efficient application class processor it has yet developed and the part features big.LITTLE processing, described as a flexible approach that redefines the traditional relationship between power and performance. ARM claims that the A7 will double the performance of its existing Cortex A8 family through a combination of process shrinks and improvements at the level of microarchitecture, A7′s design improvements over the older A8 core are possible because ARM has had the past three years to carefully study how the Android OS uses existing ARM chips in the course of normal usage. The single-core chip was designed for use in budget-friendly smartphones that will be priced under $100 and the first smartphones to use the new chip are expected to hit the market in 2013……………….
