Garmin FR70 Fitness Watch Keeps You Motivated

Garmin has unveiled its latest wrist-worn Non-GPS marvel for those who don’t treat exercise as a dirty word, the Garmin FR70 Fitness Watch and the FR70 uses ANT+ to talk to other exercise equipment, such as the bundled heart rate monitor. The fitness watch can track the time you’ve been working out, along with your heart rate and how many calories you’ve burned and it can track your speed and distance while walking, jogging or running. The pair will be available in the UK, starting in November for £129 / €139 ($197) and pairing the watch with a wireless foot pod will clue you in on speed, distance and cadence during your training sessions………………

When the launch of Google TV was announced there was a great optimism from Technorati and no one knows what went wrong that this did not make in the market as big as this was expected following the grand success of Android. Despite launching Google TV with Logitech and Sony as key partners, they did not have the take off as expected and Google announced that early next week it will launch a major software update intended to significantly improve the functionality of the Google TV software. Google admits that Google TV has had its problems, but with this update they hope to address some of them and owners of Sony’s Google TV-equipped televisions will see the update as early as next week, Logitech Revue owners will have to wait until soon thereafter…………………

Apple has reportedly been at work on a full-fledged high-definition television set for years, but the company’s recent launch of Siri for the iPhone 4S is believed to be one of the final puzzle pieces necessary for Apple to launch its own TV and Jobs had reportedly been pushing engineers at Apple for years to develop a new interface for living room TVs. In new report Nick Bilton from The New York Times says that Apple is indeed working on a television product that could be publicly announced in late 2012, which released in early 2013 and Apple has quite a bit of work to do before the set is ready for prime time…………….

LightSquared And PCTEL Make Partnership For Fix GPS Interference Issue

LightSquared announced in cooperating with PCTEL, it has developed a new antenna that will help resolve concerns over high precision GPS receivers and the Coalition, which represents manufacturers and users of GPS (Global Positioning System), has been among the most vocal critics of LightSquared’s plan to operate a national LTE network on 40,000 terrestrial base stations, using frequencies near to those used for GPS and tests conducted earlier this year showed the network would knock out GPS for many devices, which scan a wide band of frequencies for weak signals from GPS satellites.LightSquared has said it already committed millions of dollars to changes to its own technology and will contribute up to $50 million to fix gear owned by federal agencies, the new solution will soon undergo testing with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration as well as with the Federal Communications Commission…………..

The Chinese BYD e6 is somewhat a staple of Shenzhen taxi companies, racking up a combined 3.8 million miles since its introduction and there is now an electric e6 with a range of 190 miles, which recently started selling in China. The car is a five-passenger tall wagon and is on track to increase electric vehicle sales in China from 33,000 last year to 554,000 by 2015 and BYD is working with China Southern Grid, a utility company, to distribute home-based vehicle charging stations. The current line of electric e6s cost about $57 grand, but due to government subsidies, a growing Chinese middle class will be able to purchase the cars for around $38,000 and BYD hopes that an early profit loss this year will be solved in part by the US launch and the e6 and also BYD is set to far eclipse Japanese car makers in the EV business for the Asia Pacific region………………….

New High-Precision Eye Surgery Robot

A researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands has developed an eye-surgery robot that filters out hand tremors to allow ophthalmologists to operate on the retina and the vitreous humor of the eye with greater precision and for longer into their careers. Its design is similar to the da Vinci Surgical System except that Meenink’s uses two sets of control modules–a master and this slave unit helps to filter out a surgeon’s hand tremors and prevent accidental damage to the eye. Another notable feature is the robot’s ability to switch between tools quickly and if this whole doctor thing doesn’t work out, it’ll at least have a job at Hibachi waiting…………………

Samsung Become World’s Top Smartphone Manufacturer

Samsung has now become the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer, leaping past Apple, which held the title for just one quarter and Samsung shipped 27.8 million smartphones last quarter, accounting for 23.8 percent of the smartphone market, compared to Apple’s 17.1 million units shipped. Even though Nokia has been in a heavy transition period they managed to hold onto 3rd place with 16.8 million smartphones shipped, claiming 14.4% market share and RIM, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola all make up the others category. While Apple is expecting all-time record iPhone sales during the current quarter as the iPhone 4S rolls out around the world and it still may not be enough to overcome Samsung’s significant lead and strong growth…………………
