Automobile systems manufacturer Visteon has unveiled a futuristic car named e-Bee at the Electronica 2012 Trade Show in Munich. According to Visteon, this car is expected to be available in 2020 and will use a range of innovative technologies including display-based controls and cloud-centered profile storage, with the goal of creating a unique and personalized driving experience.
The e-Bee is a futuristic car. It will be fully compatible with electric vehicle and hybrid platforms. It will have less weight and increased cabin space compared to current cars. The car will have touch display-based controls and cloud-centered profile storage. Besides it will come with Human Machine Interaction (HMI) systems – including audio, infotainment, connectivity, driver information, displays and control panel solutions that will enhance the driving experience in the future.
The car’s driver interface has three sets of displays – a main display for journey information and two smaller screens with touch-sensing capabilities. The touch screens are located within easy fingertip distance on either side of the steering wheel, providing simple and immediate interaction with both vehicle controls and social connections. The car will also have a projected head-down display in order to access basic driving information. The car will have no rear-view mirror; rather there will be a display that will show images from a panamorphic 180-degree rear-view camera.
Besides, the car will have integrated climate module that will combine the heat, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit with the refrigerant system, including an energy-efficient heat pump. In short, the car is designed to explore new and alternative ways of using a vehicle, including car-sharing, private ownership and short-term rental.
Tim Yerdon, Visteon’s global director of innovation said, “From its driver interface to its compact and innovative climate system, the e-Bee is an exercise in efficient, forward-looking design for new mobility uses. The vehicle will be showcased at customer and industry events throughout Asia, the U.S. and Europe, where it will be the centerpiece in Visteon’s discussions with customers and partners about future technology trends and needs.”
