Bosch Unveils Power Max Electric Vehicle Charger For $450

Although the electric vehicle prices are coming down, but the cost of chargers has always belonged in the $1,000-$2,000 range. Bosch is offering a level 2 industry breakthrough Power Max that combines fast 240V charging with increased affordability at a price of $450 only. The Bosch Power Max includes 16 amp charging and a 12 foot cord.

We come to know that Bosch already has a Power Xpress charger which costs $950 in the market. It seems the company has used the same technology into a more affordable package with its new Power Max system. BMW and Ford offered the same 240 volt system Bosch Power Max offers, but are more expensive.

“We believe that for the foreseeable future most EV drivers will primarily charge at home,” says Tanvir Arfi, President of Bosch’s automotive service solutions. He added, “Because many of the incentives available to offset the costs of purchasing and installing residential Level 2 charging stations are expiring, we believe it’s critical to maintain the momentum towards Level 2 by offering high quality, but lower cost charging solutions.”

Bosch is offering a level 2 (faster than level 1) home charging system for just $450. It includes 16 amp charging and a 12 foot cord. The electric vehicle charger comes in two more options – with an increase in the amp rage to 30, and optional 18 or 25 feet cables. The prices are $593 and $749 respectively.
