The use of DVDs has indeed been declining over recent years, with content more readily available online and transmitted more often through flash drives. However, there are still a lot of us who would like to pop in a DVD at times and watch a movie. But this would no longer be possible with Windows 8′s default features which will be coming with absolutely no DVD playback.

Since the launch of Nokia 808 PureView at Mobile World Congress 2012, it has been the talk of the town. This phone has received multiple awards including Best Mobile Device at Mobile World Congress 2012 and Best Imaging Innovation for 2012 from the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA), even before its commercial launch. Recently Nokia has declared that the Nokia 808 PureView will be available in Russia and India from this month. However, Nokia has not disclosed the exact dates of roll out.

RIM has revealed a Bluetooth audio adapter with remote control operation branded as BlackBerry Music Gateway. By pairing with the Bluetooth, it allows users to stream music from their Blackberry devices to other devices. Users can play music, skip or turn up the tunes with remote control. Even incoming phone calls can be received using the BlackBerry Music Gateway.

CyanogenMod 9 is based on Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC One X is really sitting on top of the Android world at the moment. International users of the HTC One X can get an experience of the omnipresent CyanogenMod custom ROM. RIM has been trying hard to be relevant, yet again, in the smartphone market. So far, it hasn’t been successful but recently, images of a leaked BB10 device and before that, leaked images of BB10 operating system has intrigued the users and the developers, to say the least. The problem for RIM is that it won’t be able to port its pre-BB10 apps to BB10 devices. And for that, RIM will have to gear up a solid developer support for the BB10 platform.

Apple’s Mac machines do support Java and Apple has been updating the software. However, these updates haven’t been timely. And just one of these delays have resulted in a mass infection of 500,000 Mac machines due to a tiny vulnerability in an older version of Flash. Now, Oracle says that it will be extending direct Java support for OS X.

Some photos of BlackBerry 10 Developer Alpha device has been leaked recently by Crackberry Forum. Previously, we have seen leaked images of Blackberry 10 OS prototype, which is in the development phase for a long time. But, sources said that the first BlackBerry 10 will be available this August with the new OS. Handset sale may start from October 2012. It seems that development is close to finish, which means the handsets will be sent out to developers soon.

Apple has been attempting to bring its two OS platforms, iOS and Mac OS, together. And in the release of the third developer preview of OS X Mountain Lion, it is well manifest.
