Google Reveals Android Wear, An Operating System For Smartwatches

Wearable technology is undoubtedly the next big thing. Understanding the facts, Google has announced a modified version of Android called Android Wear that’s designed specifically for wearable devices.

Android Wear is made for smartwatches. Google has revealed several key features of this OS. According to Google, people will be able to get “real-time speed, distance and time information” on their wrist. There is Google Maps as a built-in feature so that people will be able to get directions directly from their wrist.

Besides, Google will also integrate Google Now in Android Wear OS powered watch. Automatic, passive reminders will be sent to users via their smartwatch. People will be able to connect their watch with Android smartphones and they will get all the notifications that they want from whatever apps they have installed on their phone.

To make this Android Wear OS for smartwatches, Google has partnered with HTCSamsungLGIntelQualcomm and Broadcom Corp. The company has released two videos that show off what the watch interface will look like. Here a video.
