To learn more about what the Sony’s HX1 can do, and see the Sweep Panorama mode.Sony DSC-HX1 superzoom was every bit as good as Sony advertised. Excellent built quality, 20x optics, 3-inch tilt LCD, 1080p video, Face Detection and many more things….

Sony Cybershot HX1 digital camera offers a powerful 20x optical zoom rangeand it’s an ideal companion for anyone who needs imaging performance and advanced shooting functions.

The Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1 has earned high marks from users since its release last year. It pairs a long-range 20x optical zoom lens with full HD video recording. That’s an impressive set of features, and a nice return to form for Sony, who have lagged behind competitors like Olympus and Panasonic in the extended zoom category they once were so strong in.

The HX1 is a solid, powerful digital camera for people who are serious about their photos and want a versatile tool backing them up. It’s a year old and newer models are available, but it’s tough to argue with a successful model like this.

Sony Cybershot HX1 digital camera ‘Exmor’ CMOS sensor with an effective resolution of 9.1 megapixels for high-speed shooting offers outstanding images with reduced noise. Also, for high-speed shooting Cybershot HX1 supports full-resolution shooting at 10 frames per second.

Sony Cybershot HX1 features a new G Lens with great resolution and minimal chromatic aberration at all settings, from 28mm wide-angle right up to 560mm super telephoto. Sony Cybershot HX1 offers 20x optical zoom range.

I could quote you all the nonsense about reduced noise at higher ISO settings, which incidentally go up to 3200, but then they all say that, don’t they? What I do like is the 10fps shooting, the 28mm-540mm effective lens and a couple of interesting new modes used to maintain quality of certain shots.

One is Twilight mode and the other Anti Motion Blur, both of which involved tacking multiple pictures in a single shutter release press. The shots are then overlaid onto one another. I’m hesitant to say that they give you a genuine image of what you would naturally see but the picture should at least be sharp and saturated.

Strangely though, I’m most interested in the new panorama shooting mode – Sweep Panorama. Apparently, you just sweep the camera about and it puts together the image for you without any of that snapping and stitching nonsense. I’ll believe it when I see it and it’s got not blur, but I am very intrigued.

The Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ processor combine to deliver ‘Sweep Panorama’, which is a brand new shooting mode that captures landscapes, city scenes and more. To activate, press and hold down the shutter button and move the HX1 horizontally or vertically. The Cyber-shot HX1 captures the images and stitches them together to create an extra-wide, high resolution image. Panoramic scenes can be viewed as a scrolling preview on the three-inch LCD screen or new S-Frame.

The Sony G lens makes it’s first appearance in a cyber-shot camera in the HX1. It’s been designed to get the most out of the Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ processor.Originally developed for the Sony Alpha Digital SLR family, the G Lens in the HX1 combines lens advancements with ED – extra-low dispersion – lens for premium optical quality, from 28mm right up to 560mm.

The Cyber-shot HX1 is the first compact camera from Sony that’s capable of shooting 1080/30p HD movies. It captures crisp, detail-packed HD video clips plus stereo sound at a smooth 30 frames per second.Smile please. The Cyber-shot HX1 makes it so easy to get great results as the technology does it all for you, well almost. Intelligent Scene Recognition is enhanced in the HX1 with the addition of Smile Shutter. This lets you capture beautiful smiles automatically, even in tricky low-light or in backlighting situations.

Expect to pay just short of £500 if you pay full price. At the time of writing, Amazon UK were offering the HX1 at £429.99 which sounds quite low given the RRP of £499.99.
