As had been long expected of Apple, the company has finally launched its Maps in iOS 6. The analysts had pegged this move at Apple’s attempt to distance itself from the regular Google Maps and from the excellent features that are a part of Apple’s Maps, it seems that Apple will successfully bag users of Google Maps on iOS.
The maps come with some pretty awesome features which are sure to hook up a lot of users. For instance, you get to have the turn-by-turn navigation feature in Apple Maps.
According to Apple, “Find your way to your destination using turn-by-turn spoken directions, a 3D view, and real-time traffic information. As you approach a turn, Maps speaks directions, so you can keep your eyes on the road. In addition, the screen turns into a 3D perspective view of the road ahead. Large signs and arrows superimposed over the image show you which way to go and how long it’s going to take to get there — even if your screen is locked. As you approach a turn, the camera angle changes dynamically to show you where to go. If you miss a turn, don’t worry. Maps automatically reroutes you and updates your ETA.”
This is definitely very exciting and for those who decide to use these maps, it may give an altogether new experience of using a mapping service. However, that is not the end of it. These Maps also come with the ‘Flyover’ feature. With the help of this feature, you will be able to get aerial, 3D views of major metro areas, literally making you feel as if you are flying over that area.
