EA Announces Shut Down Of Rock Band For iOS By Mistake

Most iOS users will be aware of the fairly popular EA game for iOS devices, known as ‘Rock Band.’ However, the users of the iOS app of the game were in for a surprise today when they started receiving the pop-up message that EA will shut down the game after May 31. Later, though, Electronic Arts stated that this has been a mistake.

When the pop-up messages first started appearing on the user’s screens, it was definitely annoying. Many users had just paid $4.99 for a game which, they were suddenly told, has only weeks to live. The pop-up message that was being served read, ‘Dear Rockers, On May 31, Rock Band will no longer be playable on your device. Thanks for rocking out with us!’

However, what was even more perplexing was the fact that this new bit of information was not incorporated into the description of the app and that quite surprised the analysts since this mounted to intentionally fooling prospective new users. But now, it has been revealed that all this was just a mistake. EA has officially stated that they are not shutting down the game and that they game will continue to be playable even after May 31.

The official statement given by EA reads, ‘Rock Band for iOS will remain live – the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We’re working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible.’
