One of the most prominent tech events of the year, Electronics Entertainment Expo, is due to take place in June this year. According to analysts, both Sony and Microsoft may take the occasion to unveil their new game consoles.

According to Colin Sebastian of Baird Equity Research, he met a number of gaming industry personnel and company heads at the CES show this year and in his conversations, he was able to gauge that the next game consoles from the two gaming industry giants will be priced somewhere between $350 and $400.

The price point may be explained by the fact that according to Sebastian, both PS4 and Xbox 720 will be ““largely built from ‘off the shelf’ high-end PC components, along with hybrid physical/digital distribution models, enhanced voice controls and motion sensing, and broad multi-media capabilities.”

Sebastian further gave his analysis as to what kind of features the upcoming consoles may pack, “It will be easier to build online services around PC chip architecture, including flexible business models (free-to-play, subscriptions) and multi-media (over the top) content offerings. For Microsoft, this design will also allow for more integration with Windows 8 and Windows Mobile devices.”
