Apple Accepting Red Cross Donation for Japan Through iTunes

Apple has set up a section on iTunes that allows users to donate between $5 and $200. 100% of the proceeds collected go directly to the American Red Cross and Apple is waiving its usual 30% fee.

Apple has updated its direct message from its website:

”To those who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami, we send sympathies from our heart. In this deep sadness, we are praying for the victims and their families.”

There are other ways you can donate as well. If you don’t mind paying for your donation on your cell phone bill, you can text REDCROSS to 90999. Your carrier will charge you $10 on your account, and send that $10 to the Red Cross. You can also donate from the Red Cross Website.

However, it’s not all bad. The Red Cross is still a fantastic organization, and if they don’t use the money to help out with Japan, they will use it to help out in the future. The Red Cross is a non-profit organization, so they’ll be using your donation to help out someone when they need it.
