Download RedSn0w 0.9.8b2 To Fix Issues With iOS 5.0b3 Jailbreak

Apple released iOS 5 beta 3 to developers and within minutes it was confirmed that you could use the latest version of the redsn0w tool to jailbreak an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad running the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, but it didn’t take long for users to identify a big problem: If you did jailbreak iOS 5 beta 3 many apps download from the App Store would crash as soon as you launched them. And now the folks at the iPhone Dev Team have identified the problem and released a new version of redsn0w, 0.9.8b2 to jailbreak any device running iOS 5 beta 1, beta 2, or beta 3…………….

After the release of iOS 5 beta 3, can be jailbroken using Redsn0w 0.9.8 beta 1, but unexpected issue was found, App Store apps don’t work after jailbreaking iOS 5 beta 3. Also, Cydia was extremely buggy and would crash whilst installing any package or repository. Now, the iPhone Dev Team has pushed out an update of redsn0w, which apparently fixes these problems. Basically, sandbox changes in iOS 5 beta 3 were the reason why we were facing this issue. The iPhone Dev Team got to work quickly and released beta 2 of redsn0w 0.9.8 of both Windows and Mac.

The team writes on their blog:

We’ve updated redsn0w to account for the sandbox changes that affected App Store apps in 5.0b3 (and it now recognizes the IPSWs for all three betas so far).  If you already jailbroke 5.0b3 using the previous redsn0w, you don’t need to re-jailbreak…just use this updated version to boot tethered.  Start pointing redsn0w at the 5.0b3 IPSW starting with 5.0b3.

You heard the guys, no need to install iOS 5 beta 3 all over again, if you have already jailbroken using redsn0w 0.9.8b1, just use the latest beta of redsn0w to boot tethered and everything should work fine. If you rely on a software unlock for your iPhone, please do NOT upgrade to stock iOS 5 beta firmware as no unlock is available for it. Your baseband will upgrade causing you to lose your unlock.
