Apple recently unveiled its new firmware release, iOS 6, amid a lot of speculations. The company unveiled a whole host of new features in its new release which included its very own maps, something that had been hinted at for quite some time. The rather bad news, for iOS users, was that a number of new mapping features in iOS 6 were not officially supported on iPhone 4 and lower models of the smartphone.

Naturally, iOS hackers started work right away as soon as they heard that Apple’s some mapping features were not landing on iPhone 4. These features include Flyover as well as ‘turn-by-turn navigation.’ Soon after the release of iOS 6, a Russian hacker has now posted a video which shows a jailbroken iPhone 4 running 3D Maps and Flyover.

Essentially, the video proves that these features can work quite well on iPhone 4 too and that hacking the phone and having these features work on iPhone 4 is not that hard. However, Apple conventionally tends to put such limits because earlier devices can not handle the sheer load of a new feature. 3D Maps are sure to consume a whole lot of processing power and perhaps iPhone 4 is simply not equipped to handle it .

Nonetheless, if you own an iPhone 4 and wish to lay your hands on Apple’s 3D Maps, you can follow the instructions provided by the Russian hackers in the video posted below. The procedure may not seem a straight-forward one but even if its a little hard, it is worth it.
