iPhone 5 Features Faster Memory Compared To iPhone 4S

Although Apple revealed most of the relevant details about iPhone 5 during its launch event, it may have missed out quite a few features. For instance, Apple didn’t exactly specify the amount of memory that goes into the new device. However, a site claims to have deduced it through the markings on its A6 chip.

During the launch event, Apple showcased its new A6 chip in the presentation and it showed not only the chip but also the markings on it. Anandtech, a chip review site, claims that through these markings, it was able to find out the details about iPhone 5’s memory.

The site is of the opinion that iPhone 5 features 1GB of memory which is a lot faster, compared to the memory in iPhone 4S. It writes, “Roughly 33 percent more peak memory bandwidth than the iPhone 4S, which can definitely help feed the faster [graphics processing unit] and drive the higher resolution display.”

The memory speed that iPhone 5 packs is essentially greater than iPhone 4S but less than iPad 3. Still, a 1GB memory stick going into a nifty smartphone can greatly enhance the speeds.

However, we don’t know for sure that it is true, yet. As soon as iPhone 5 starts shipping out and we are able to give it a detailed look inside out, we will be able to determine for sure the exact size, and performance, of its memory.
