Rumor: iPhone 5 Will Feature 1136 x 640 Resolution And A Redesigned Dock Connector

The rumor mill churning out claims and speculations about iPhone 5 is becoming more and more active so that we get to listen to some new rumor about the much-anticipated device. Earlier, we reported that Apple had decided to go with larger displays and Sony was already producing the in-cell touch panels, as per a rumor. Now, 9to5mac has claimed that the new iPhone will feature a higher resolution.

9to5mac has also confirmed that the rumors regarding a larger display for the next iPhone are also fairly accurate. As regards the resolution of the device, the website has claimed that the next iPhone will most probably will have a 1136 x 640 display resolution. This display resolution is slightly elongated and is not 3:2, the aspect ratio that Apple has followed in all its earlier iPhone models.

In other news, Apple is also working hard on iOS 6 and will probably ship the new iPhone with the new version of iOS, so that users will be able to view more icons on the homescreen and improved app interfaces.

Rumors have already flared regarding Apple trying to redesign its dock connector. 9to5mac, too, claims the same, saying that its sources have stated that the dock connector in the new iPhone will be redesigned so that it will be ‘between the size of a Micro-USB and Mini-USB connector.’ A lot of hardware accessories rely on the dock connector to connect to iPhone. So if indeed Apple is changing the size of the connector, this will have a huge impact on all the companies shipping out these accessories.

Also, this dock connector is then expected to be used in all upcoming iOS devices in the future. This would mean that the companies will have to adapt to the new dock size and design and create their products accordingly.
