Surprising Discount Offer From Apple

Apple has given permission to its retail outlets such as Target Corp. (TGT), Best Buy Co. (BBY) and Sprint Nextel Corp. (S) to offer discount on iPhone. Because the company wants to match prices with that of other wireless carriers and retailers who are already selling iPhone with discount. Two people familiar with this thing has confirmed it to Foxbusiness. The company has told the retailers to offer discount of $49 for iPhone 4S and iPhone 4.

Apple suggested to offer such discount to those customers who cite lower prices from other outlets. The company did not ensure to the employees the cause of discount, even any advertise has not been shown about the discount.

Experts said that such decision to offer discount is unusual. Because such retail outlets seldom sales Apple products at discounted rate. Company like the Cupertino, Calif. rarely offer price matching for its devices except educational and corporate discounts. Such retail outlets rarely offers steep price cuts unless a older version product has been replaced with a new version.

It is believed that behind such discount offer there lies the possibility of the marketing of a new version of iPhone with thinner yet longer screen, measuring at least 4 inches diagonally, among other things.
