T-Mobile Nano-SIMs Arrive For Unlocked iPhone 5 Devices

A few weeks ago we reported that T-Mobile USA was planning to bring nano-SIM over to its network for unlocked iPhone 5 devices. According to a report, the nano-SIMs have arrived at a few locations in the New York City. The stock is, however, extremely limited; one store employee indicated they only had received ten nano-SIM cards.

Owners of the just-released iPhone 5 may consider switching carriers to T-Mobile if they purchased an unlocked-version of the device. The nano-SIM standard has seen its first commercial implementation in iPhone 5 and has yet to make ways over to other smartphones. Hence, all of T-Mobile’s nano-SIM stockpile clearly represents an attempt to attract iPhone 5 users.

T-Mobile offers unlocked phone users an unlimited data, talk, and text plan for $69.99 per month. The only drawback, iPhone users won’t be able to take advantage of the 3G or HSPA+ network due to its incompatible wireless chip. Instead, users will be held back to 2G internet speeds.

Recently, T-Mobile has launched new iPhone-friendly 1900MHZ HSPA+ service in areas around New York, Seattle, and Las Vegas. The coverage is very limited, hence they haven’t made the news public.
