Computer maker Acer has taken the wraps off an update to its TimelineX notebook series, including a new TimelineX 1830T ultraportable notebook with an 11.6-inch display that weighs just 3.09 pounds, but packs an Intel Core i7 processor for maximum performance. All the new TimelineX models feature HD-capable 1,366 by 768-pixel displays, HDMI output, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, gigabit Ethernet, and an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam. The systems all ship with Windows 7 Home Premium and offer multi-gesture trackpads.

On the ultraportable front, Acer is introducing the new TimelineX 1830T; the 1830T-68U118 model sports an Intel Core i7-680 processor running at 1.46 GHz, but Intel’s Turbo Boost technology can crank that to 2.53 GHz as needed. The system also sports 4 GB of RAM, 500 GB of hard drive storage, and integrated Bluetooth, all with a suggested price of $899.99. Other TimelineX 1830T models will feature Core i3 and Core i5 processors and have starting prices as low as $599.99. Even with its small size, the 1830T sports a 100 percent full-size keyboard for easy typing.

Acer is offering the TimelineX 3820T, with a 13.3-inch display, either an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor, 3 to 4 GB of RAM (expandable to 8 GB), and a 320 GB hard drive—however, the system is highly portable, weighing just under four pounds and measuring barely over an inch thick.

Acer is also updating its 14-inch, and 15.6-inch TimelineX systems. The 14- and 15.6-inch models will pick up Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors, 4 GB of RAM (expandable to 8 GB), and up to 500 GB of hard drive storage—the 15.6-inch model (the 5820T) also has a dedicated numeric keypad. Prices will start at $699.99.

Two TimelineX 4280TG models will feature 14-inch displays, Core i5 processors, and discrete ATI Mobility RadeonHD 5650 graphics with DirectX 11 support for high-performance gaming and entertainment capabilities. Users can switch between discrete graphics and battery-sipping integrated graphics at will; prices will start at $799.99.
