Android 2.2 Froyo Is Hacked by xda developers for Samsung Captivate and its not official.It is also with Flash 10.1,mobile hotspot and many more….

An unofficial but seemingly feature-complete Android 2.2 build is available for the Captivate right now. The faithful fiends at xda-developers have got build UCJI6 ready for download, which brings a mobile hotspot, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, the JIT compiler, Media Hub support, and a host of UI tweaks to boot.

Steps to Android 2.2 Froyo on Samsung Froyo :

• Download the leaked file I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears.exe
• Turn off your Captivate.
• Launch the I897UCJI6-OCD-REV02-Low-designgears.exe file you just downloaded.
• Hold down the volume buttons on the Samsung Captivate
• Plug in the device
• Click the “Start” button on the Odin program
• Enjoy!

#1 – Rooting

Extract RootPack zip file
Browse to contents from cmd/terminal

chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
(wait for you to get kicked from adb)

For those among us who aren’t terribly comfortable using the RageAgainstTheCage method to root this sucker there is an alternate method! This method DOES however require some familiarity with Odin, so if you aren’t cool with that or if you have zero experience using key combinations or flashing I wouldn’t recommend this.

1. Place the update.zip on your internal SD card.
2. Power down your phone
3. Boot into download mode and set up with Odin
4. Place the JF6 kernel into the PDA slot, and uncheck auto reboot, hit start
5. Once Odin has finished, remove your battery and close Odin.
6. Put your battery back in, press and hold both volume buttons, and power on
7. You SHOULD be in stock recovery now, select “Reinstall Packages” the root update.zip should run.
8. As soon as the phone attempts to reboot, remove the battery, start Odin, use key combos to get back into Odin
9. Flash the JI6 kernel back to the phone
10. Profit!
