Like the Android port for iPhone 2G and iPhone 3G, it is now a reality on HD2 too, with Android 2.1 dual booting side by side with Ubuntu Linux “Karmic Koala”, and Windows Mobile 6.5 with HTC Sense.
The current release may not be very stable, but it looks really promising! The screen is working flawlessly and responds as if it would on any Android device. The people responsible behind this port call themselves HTC Linux and we’re pleased with the work they’ve put into making this a dream come true. At the moment though, Android 2.1 and Ubuntu both are a little buggy, but these bugs are being worked on and hopefully will be removed with time. Now if only we could get Android 2.2 from Nexus One on this monster of a device, that would be something.
Here is a video of it in action.
