The Black’s “Nova” display uses the same IPS LCD technology as the Apple iPhone 4, albeit at a lower 800×480 resolution on its 4-inch screen. According to LG, the display pumps out 700 nits of brightness. That comapres to 500 nits on the iPhone 4 and 300 nits on the Super AMOLED screen on the Samsung Galaxy S.
The LG Optimus Black comes equipped with Android 2.2 and will offer Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade capabilities. The Optimus Black includes a 4″ NOVA display which needs 50% leff power for the display while still remaining bright enough for use.

The LG Optimus Black will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo with Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade capability. LG plans on rolling the Optimus Black out globally in the first half of 2011.

Now, though, the jury has come out with a decision and it is in favor of Google, ruling that Google didn’t infringe Oracle’s patents.
