Panasonic Enters The International Smartphone Market

Panasonic is a well-known electronics company internationally but it’s influence in the smartphone market has been very limited. This was because Panasonic had limited it’s smartphone ambitions to Japan, it’s home pitch. However, Panasonic now aims to take it’s smartphone expertise to the global scale.

Panasonic has so far contained it’s smartphone sales to Japan, it’s home country. However, the electronics giant has ambitious plans for the year 2012. Panasonic is a well-known name in the electronics industry already and has been considered a fair contestant in many consumer electronic products.

Panasonic smartphone sales in Europe by 2012:
After a recent reorganization, the company has decided that it will be taking it’s smartphone sales to the global scale. And the first attempt in doing so will start from Europe. Panasonic intends to launch it’s smartphones in Europe sometime in March 2012, according to the company. The states ambitions are to take the out-of-Japan sales of Panasonic smartphones to 9 million by 2016, an ambitious goal indeed but one which the company is quite optimistic about. Initially, Panasonic plans to launch it’s 4.3 inch, OLED screen smartphone. The design of the device is both water-proof and dust-proof and according to non-official reports, the device tools an Android operating system. Also, these non-official reports claim that the company’s smartphones will be targeting certain age groups, for now the people in their 30s and 40s, rather than offering a generic phone. It is hard to speculate how successful will this venture by Panasonic be, given the fact that Android and Apple already have a very firm smartphone market established in Europe and US.
