Toshiba Excite, The Slimmest Tablet on the Market so Far

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show is reportedly going to present a lot of exciting new products and first news about new releases are just hitting the blogosphere. As rumored previously, Toshiba already presented a new tablet that broke a record. Toshiba Excite, is with about 7.7 millimeter thin, 1 millimeter thinner than the previous world slimmest tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Among other features, Toshiba Excite shows off a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, 5 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front camera. The tablet is running on Android 3.2 Honeycomb, is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core TI OMAP4 processor, and has 1GB of RAM. When connectivity is concerned, Toshiba Excite supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and the company hasn’t confirmed yet the 3G capabilities.

Toshiba Excite has 64 GB internal storage but microSD card could offer more storage if needed. The ultra thin which sets a new world record when it comes to this criterion and the tablet from Toshiba weights only 558 grams. This is supposed to make Toshiba Excite stand out on a crowded Android tablet market.
