College Students Can Now Get Discount On Spotify Premium Subscription

The competition in the online music arena is growing fiercer. And to keep up, companies are coming up with better offers. For instance, Spotify has now launched a special subscription package for college students.

Spotify

You can get a Spotify account for free but it comes with many restrictions. A Premium account has far better features and allows you to access a huge catalog of music. It normally costs $9.99 per month. But now, the company is rolling out a special discount for college students: $4.99 per month for the Premium account.

The discount is certainly lucrative, given that it slashes away nearly 50% of the original subscription fee. The deal is currently available only to students enrolled at a U.S. accredited institution. If you are eligible, you will be required to provide additional information such as your complete name, date of birth and college name.

In some instances, the company may ask for other details to confirm your identity and to establish where or not you are a college student. To do this, Spotify may ask you to cough up documents such as a college transcript, a class schedule or simply your student ID card.

Nonetheless, this is a pretty sweet deal for the college students. And Spotify stands to gain a significant number of new users from this. Currently, the company has 6 million paid subscribers out of a 24 million monthly active users. We can see a substantial rise in the number of the paid subscribers following this deal.
