Facebook Announces Mike Schroepfer As CTO

Facebook has named its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) on Friday. The post was vacant after its former CTO Bret Taylor left last summer. Facebook’s VP of engineering Mike Schroepfer has been promoted to the post of the CTO.

Mike Schroepfer

Schroepfer — or Schrep, as he’s commonly known — is working at Facebook for the last five years. He has been overseeing the social network’s engineering, infrastructure and mobile efforts. Prior to that, he was at Mozilla for three years as VP of engineering. Schrep also served as the CTO of Sun Microsystems’ DataCenter Automation and Clustering Software Division.

“Mike Schroepfer’s new designation as Facebook’s CTO reflects the unique and important role he plays across the company,” Facebook said in a statement.
