Mark Zuckerberg Expressed His Discontent About SOPA/PIPA

“The internet is the most powerful tool we have for creating a more open and connected world. We can’t let poorly thought out laws get in the way of the internet’s development,” wrote Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, in a post on his favorite social network. “Facebook opposes SOPA and PIPA, and we will continue to oppose any laws that will hurt the internet,” further settled the facts Zuckerberg leaving no room for interpretations.

Mark Zuckerberg’ recently voiced anger against Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) adds to the general discontent of the leaders of opinion form the tech world. For the situation to come to an agreement convenient for all the parties involved, there is a serious need for “political leaders who are pro-internet,” as many industry observers point out.

Mark Zuckerberg also encouraged the 800 million Facebook users to check out the dedicated Facebook page to find out more information about the controversial legislation, “Facebook Washington DC, Anti-Piracy Bills.” Facebook users can find out from this page that “PROTECT IP and SOPA could create very real problems for Internet companies like ours that are a primary driver of innovation, growth and job creation in the 21st century economy.” To point out how serious the situation is, Mark Zuckerberg used the opportunity to send his first tweet since 2009 in order to convince people to write to their congressional representatives to urge them to have pro-internet attitude when voting the law.
