One Million Facebook Likes Earn Kids A Puppy

Social media marketing tricks are as endless as they are often creative. Nonetheless, a recent social media marketing campaign took Facebook by storm and amassed millions of likes within a few hours. The project was launched by a few kids who were told by their father that if they could gather one million likes, he would buy them a puppy.

Facebook Likes

The photograph that the kids posted on the page of their Facebook project stated, “Hi World. We want a puppy! Our dad said we could get one if we get 1 million Likes! So Like this! He doesn’t think we can do it!”

The father of the kids himself is a digital media scholar at the Northeastern University and has been exploring the many different facets of contents that can go viral globally. When he told his kids to get one million likes, he didn’t really mean it.

According to him, he and his wife had planned that “in the spring, my wife and I would say ‘Hey, that was a really great project. Let’s go look for a dog. You did a great job. We would have gotten a dog eventually anyway — it was a delay tactic.'”

However, what is rather remarkable is that the Facebook page titled ‘Twogirlsandpuppy‘ was able to gather hundreds of thousands of likes (301K+ so far) and the photo itself attracted 1 million likes within 7 hours! Since then, the kids and their parents have become somewhat of a celebrity, having been called by Good Morning America and a number of other TV and radio programs as guests.
