GoDaddy recently suffered a crash when the website went down, taking down millions of sites hosted by it. A member of the prominent online hacktivist group, Anonymous, was quick to claim responsibility for the attack. However, it seems that the reality was quite different.

GoDaddy

The Anonymous member has claimed that he was able to taken down the site by launching a DDoS attack and that he did this so as to show the security lapses in GoDaddy’s network.

GoDaddy was quite to respond, stating that it was looking into the matter. Within 24 hours, the company was able to replug its services and launched an investigation into the matter.

Now, the company has announced that it has completed its investigations into the service outage issue. And that it has come to the conclusion that the outage wasn’t caused by any hack by Anonymous. Rather, it says that the problem arose due to internal network issues.

According to the official statement, “We have determined the service outage was due to a series of internal network events that corrupted router data tables. Once the issues were identified, we took corrective actions to restore services for our customers and GoDaddy.com.  We have implemented measures to prevent this from occurring again.”

The company also extended an apology to such customers who had to suffer due to the issue and vowed that such an incident wouldn’t happen again.
