Woman Using Google’s Directions Gets Hit By Car, Sues Google

A woman following Google’s directions walk onto a highway and got hit by a car, and is now suing the company for $100,000. You would think anyone following directions from any source would think to look both ways before attempting to cross a highway. Lauren Rosenberg, who apparently takes things very literally, was reading the directions on her Blackberry and thus wasn’t privy to the warning that shows up when you access walking directions on a computer:

Walking directions are in beta. Use caution – This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths.

Deer Valley Drive, also known as Utah State Route 224, was one such route, and following Google’s instructions to brave it on foot, Rosenberg was hit by a car and is now suing the company for $100,000.

aww c'mon! another dumb trial! what's next? suing the car manufacturer for not warning you that crashing into the wall at 100mph can cause damage to health?! suing the pool for not warning you that you can drown if you can't swim? how much stupider will it get?
I mean, if you're dumb enough to suppose that some device with a google software can make you invincible and use it's directions without looking aside, then you're simply not made for this world. Dumb, just dumb

There’s a country song called “Warning Signs.”

It’s why there’s a warning label on preparation H to be used externally only.

It’s why the coffee cup says “Caution. Hot” on it.

It’s why there’s a disclaimer on Google Maps to always do a reality check. And also DON’T USE WHILE DRIVING.

Really silly… People turn off their mind and stop observing and thinking and let others do the walking for them. Always observe. Always think. Always walk according to what you observe.

Shame it didn’t kill her. It would leave one less dumb ass in the world.
