iPhone Dev team has managed to jailbreak the newly released 2nd-gen Apple TV, running iOS 4.1 using SHAtter exploit loaded on PwnageTool. For those of you who don’t know, SHAtter is a low-level bootrom exploit which Apple will not be able to patch with a new firmware. Instead, they will have to introduce a revised hardware for all the current iOS devices to close the loophole.
A days ago Apple TV has unboxed and the iPhone Dev team managed to jailbreak apple TV 2G by using SHAtter exploit and pre-jailbroken IPSW from PwnageTool.But it’s important to save SHSH Blobs for your new Apple TV so that you’ll be always able to revert to the stock firmware to jailbreak it.
The next generation Apple TV runs on iOS 4.1 has already unboxed but the question has arised that will it be possible to jailbreak AppleTV or not?The answer is yes, the SHAtter exploit found by Pod2g & Chronic Dev team was successfully used to get the decryption keys.
