Social media has become critically important for business organizations because it is a novel way to engage the users and get them know a certain brand or business well enough. Facebook, being the king of digital social media, is considered vital for business advertising and marketing. Now, it seems that General Motors spent a huge budget on its Facebook presence but couldn’t make much out of it.
We have been hearing about Facebook’s IPO for a few weeks now. In what is expected to be the largest public valuation of a tech company, Facebook is hoping to be worth up to a whopping $96 billion! While many prospective investors may be eagerly waiting for this to happen, the good news is that the social network is one step closer to going public from 18th May.
We have long been hearing of the social network, Diaspora. The network gained a lot of traction in the open-source world when its idea became known two years ago. The idea behind it was to give the users more freedom and control over their social interactions, quite like the philosophy that governs the open-source world.

The social network has now updated its Data Use policy so that the users can understand more clearly what the policy means.

Well, if are not getting any wittier or interesting, Facebook may have the right solution for you. It is called the new ‘highlight’ feature.
Google has been trying to bring a ‘social experience’ to Google search. It did so by integrating the Google+ accounts with its search so that you could see results from your G+ account in the Google search results. The feature was being called ‘Search Plus your world.’ However, it was severely criticized as a result because it chose not to integrate Facebook and Twitter in this ‘social search’ venture. Now, the second most used search engine, Bing is doing what Google didn’t.
Facebook has confirmed that they have launched a new app center. Facebook wants to bring all types of apps such as iOS apps, Android apps, web apps, mobile web apps even desktop apps on this App Center. By using mobile app center, a user can browse apps which is compatible with their device, if a mobile app is needs to be installed then the user will be sent to download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
Social media has come about to play a huge role in our lives, so much so that nearly every other person is somehow there on one or other of the social networks online. But these online interactions have also come with their problems and risks. For instance, one can easily create a fake identity to fool others.
Mobile platform has become increasingly important for nearly everyone in the tech world. With billions of users hooked up to the mobile platform, it is definitely overtaking the regular computer platform to become the top priority. A recent report by ComScore now shows that Facebook users who use it on their smartphones spend lot more time on it than such Facebook users who log in from its regular version from a computer.
Facebook is right on the verge of going public and the whole thing is expected to bring huge loads of cash to the social network. While the company announced the range of its stock and is expected to land between $28 and $35, an analyst from Sterne Agee has now stated that within a year of going public, Facebook may hit $46.
One of the major changes that have been added to Facebook is the Facebook Timeline. Timeline essentially overhauled the very interface of a user profile. While it was embraced with open arms by many for its sleek looks, others had been suspicious because of privacy concerns as Timeline seemed to be making public a lot of things they wouldn’t want to be public.
Technology has, over time, seeped into every single domain of human life. From medicine to education and from reading books to entertainment, everything is somehow connected to technology. Now, an interesting infographic by market research firm Lab42 shows how nearly 50% of people who workout are hooked up to their smartphones even during the time when they are working out.
Within the last few days, a number of people have experience difficulty in posting their comments simply because a Facebook error message would pop up, suggesting that their message is either irrelevant or inappropriate. In many cases, this has happened even when a person has tried to post a perfectly innocent message. Has the social network started censoring comments or is it a result of spam filtering?
