Apple Grabs Touchscreen Patent For iPhone, Making Trouble For Nokia, Samsung & Its Competetors

Apple Grabs Touchscreen Patent For iPhone, Making Trouble For Nokia, Samsung & Its Competetors

Apple granted patent for portable multifunction devices with multitouch screens and the USPTO has awarded the Cupertino crew a patent that’s sure to raise few eyebrows amongst its competitors. Apple’s patent essentially gives it ownership of the capacitive multitouch interface the company pioneered with its iPhone, to produce a new round of lawsuits over the now-ubiquitous multitouch interfaces used in smartphones made by the likes of HTC, Samsung, Motorola, Research in Motion, Nokia, and others that run operating systems similar in nature to Apple’s iOS…………

Google Shows Off Groupon-Killer

Google Shows Off Groupon-Killer

Google Wallet will be accompanied and funded by a deals network, much like Groupon, which provides discounts and a loyalty rewards program and kicks off in New York and San Francisco at retailers such as Macy’s, Subway and The Container Store and also will expand nationwide this summer. This year Groupon is on track to do nearly $3 billion in revenue and the astronomical growth of Groupon Google’s nearly $6 billion rumored-offer for the company last year seems less outrageous than it did at the time. It’s very easy to see why Google is so bullish on the local deals business, especially when you consider that nearly 80 percent of US small businesses have not yet tried them out and offers could easily become Google’s next billion dollar business a couple of years from now………….

Adobe Air End Support For Linux

Adobe Air End Support For Linux

Adobe has decided to end official support for the Linux version of Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR) owing to the limited popularity of Linux as a desktop operating system and no signs that it will become more popular in the future and AIR 2.6 incidentally was the last release of the platform for desktop version of Linux. AIR allows programmers to create cross platform applications and a host of popular apps are built around the adobe runtime environment, including Tweetdeck, iPlayer and more. Analysts believe that it makes more sense for Adobe to focus on Google’s Android OS and iOS which are steadily increasing their market share and Linux has only gained about a percent of market share in that time, so it’s no surprise that a sliver of PC users are no longer a priority……….
