Isn’t that interesting? Could be. But this is not magic. Distributed Robotics Laboratory (DRL) at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT’s) Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) has developed a new algorithm which is an exciting fast prototyping tool. It’s name is ‘Smart Sand.’ and it can duplicate any object easily. Is it called the real magic? Abra-ca-dabra!!!

World’s First Printed Non-Volatile CMOS Memory

World’s First Printed Non-Volatile CMOS Memory

Thinfilm, a Norwegian developer of printable memory has co-announced with California’s Xerox PARC a development that takes a big step towards the day when every manufactured object will report in to the internet and Thinfilm has been producing low-capacity read/write printable memory, which has been used in such applications as personalized toys and games. The resulting integrated circuits are essentially CMOS chips that can be printed on large rolls at extremely low cost and the most obvious application of the technology is in NFC chips, but the small price and size could find the printable circuits turning up as everything from price tags to freshness sensors on food packaging……………….

IBM Cognitive Computing Project

IBM Cognitive Computing Project

IBM’s cognitive computing chip functions like a human brain and it developed as part of a DARPA project called SyNAPSE (Systems of Neuromorphic Adaptive Plastic Scalable Electronics), IBM’s so-called neurosynaptic computing chip features a silicon core capable of digitally replicating the brain’s neurons, synapses and axons. Researchers took a dramatic departure from the conventional von Neumann computer architecture, which links internal memory and a processor with a single data channel, which allows for data to be transmitted at high. IBM’s two prototypes have already demonstrated the ability to navigate, recognize patterns and classify objects, though the long-term goal is to create a smaller, low-power chip that can analyze more complex data……………..

Vibrating Glove Prototype To Improve The Wearer’s Sense Of Touch

Researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology have found a way to significantly enhance the wearer’s natural sense of touch and the secret is a technologically enhanced glove that taps into these hidden powers with vibration. The prototype device features an actuator to produce ultra-frequency vibration and the actuator is made-up of lead zirconate titanate layers, which are piezoelectric that produces an electrical charge on the application of a mechanical force. It is fixed to the fingertip’s side to help the wearer to continue his normal work and the scientists tested the device on 10 volunteers who did common motor skill and sensory jobs such as grasp tests, single-point touch, two-point discrimination and texture discrimination…………………
