Skype has agreed to acquire New York-based start-up GroupMe, a move that gets the Internet-calling giant into the increasingly crowded business of providing group messaging services on smartphones and GroupMe’s application lets users text and make conference calls with circles of friends or colleagues. The deal was confirmed as Microsoft is still in the process of seeking approvals from regulators to seal its $8.5 billion acquisition of Skype and Skype CEO Tony Bates says that he’s been talking to the company for a few months………….
