Samsung Electronics announces third quarter 2011 results consolidated operating profit reaches 4.25 trillion won on revenues of 41.27 trillion won and this overall profit falls despite incredible phone sales. Samsung’s bread-and-butter chip business saw its profit more than halve to 1.59 trillion won from a year earlier, but it held up well as its relatively high exposure to lucrative mobile chips helped the firm offset a sharp plunge in prices of commodity computer memory chips and Samsung was the sole profitable firm among major global DRAM chip makers in the third quarter……………..

Samsung releases 1.5GHz Exynos processor and 16MP CMOS for mobiles, the 4212 is a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 clocked to 1.5GHz, built using a 32mn process that makes it 30 percent more efficient and 25 percent faster than the 4210. The Samsung S5K2P1 is a back lit sensor, which is designed to produce better photos in low light and Samsung has said that their new 16 megapixel CMOS sensor will go into production before the end of the year……………..

Samsung has just unveiled a rather unexpected addition to its fleet of tablets with the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which available in both 16GB and 32GB varieties, this new slate is fueled by a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, runs Android 3.2 Honeycomb and features a seven-inch LCD with 1024 x 600 resolution. It also packs a two megapixel front-facing camera, along with a three megapixel shooter that supports 720p video and boasts 1GB of RAM with Sammy’s TouchWiz UI baked-in. Samsung announces Galaxy S II LTE and Galaxy S II HD LTE handsets for Korean market and the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is the first of the Galaxy S series phones to sport an HD display. Each model totes a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, WiFi a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0 along with 4G LTE support and NFC, though the Galaxy S II LTE makes do with a 4.5-inch WVGA panel as on the EPIC 4G Touch and both models have an 8-megapixel main camera with autofocus and Full HD video recording, aong with a front-facing camera for video calls. No official word on the pricing and release date has been given, but we do have information that the GS II LTE will be exclusive to Sunkyoung (SK) Telecom while the GS II LTE HD will be available not only on SK Telecom………………..

The Korea Times reports that Samsung is seeking a complete ban on the iPhone 5 sales in Korea, even before the handset is even released and the report goes on to mention that iPhone sports an LG Display-made screen, LG Innotek’s eight-megapixel camera, Samsung-made NAND flash and A5 chip and an NFC chip for wireless payment. Samsung and Apple are now embroiled in 23 lawsuits in at least nine countries and Samsung also filed a complaint before a Paris district court in July over an alleged infringement of three Samsung patents…………….

Samsung announced a new laptop line, adding the Series 7 to the existing Series 3 and Series 9 lines and also the new Series 7 has a super-thin metallic chassis, incredibly bright display and a hybrid storage system designed to make a regular hard disk act like an SSD. On the inside, users can get up to a Core i7 2675QM CPU clocked at 2.20GHz, up to 8GB of RAM, Radeon HD 6750M graphics, and a 750GB HDD spinning at 7200RPM and there’s an additional 8GB of flash memory mounted on the motherboard that helps shave boot times down to mere seconds using Sammy’s FastStart technology. Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and XpanD finally team up for an active 3D glasses standard and CEA is playing catch up on the IR glasses problem, but many of the new HDTVs for 2011 are using Bluetooth technology to keep their glasses in sync, again without any promise of cross-manufacturer compatibility. The companies are announcing the Full HD Glasses Initiative, which should lay down a standard for consumer active shutter glasses to communicate over Bluetooth or IR and the new glasses should be backwards compatible with this year’s TVs, although early adopters from 2010 have no such guarantee……………

Samsung has pledged its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet will see local release in the near future and following an injunction against the promotion and sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes 10 Apple patents, including the look and feel and touchscreen technology of the iPad. The Australian injunction is necessary because Samsung has had announcements of an imminent launch of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 device ongoing since July 20 and Apple is basing claim on a U.S. version of the Galaxy tablet, which is different from the one that will be sold in Australia……………
