In an interview with Wall Street Journal, the Oscar-winning filmmaker, James Cameron, who is nominated for best director at the coming Oscars, told that Avatar in 3D will be released in DVD and Blu-Ray version for home entertainment. He thinks that 3D Blu-Ray and DVD will be coming in November this year. And standard DVD & Blu-Ray will be released on April 22.
“It’s all right on schedule,” said Cameron. “We’ll do the Blu-ray and the standard def DVD April 22nd, that’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones. And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.”
But Fox Home Entertainment couldn’t confirm the release dates.
The 3D Blu-Ray release of Avatar actually fully depends on the electronics companies. In CES 2010, they said that 3D TV is coming this summer. If that happens, we can rely on James that Avatar will be released on 3D within this year.
According to Wall Street Journal, s spokesman for Fox Home Entertainment said on Thursday night that the “3-D is in the conceptual stage and ‘Avatar’ will not be out on 3-D Blu-ray in November.”
Let us hope that James words come true.
