Android Getting Bigger And Bigger, 250 Million Activations So Far

According to the most recent earnings report communicated by Google officials, Android is the main operating system for mobile users with more than 250 million activations. The report does not include the secondary market with all second hand smartphones sold over the world. Under the circumstances, Android Market is doing more than well with over 11 billion app downloads.

Larry Page, CEO of Google, detailed the company’s strengths and benefits “Google had a really strong quarter ending a great year. Full year revenue was up 29 per cent, and our quarterly revenue blew past the $10 billion mark for the first time, excited about the growth of Android, Gmail, and Google+, which now has 90 million users globally–well over double what I announced just three months ago.”

This market success translates into revenue of $3.65 billion a year. Besides, each day’s worth of activations generates, according to industry observers about “$10 million in annual mobile advertising revenue”.

For some, Google’s earning report sounds disappointing considering the tech giant failed to hit the target/ Fourth quarter sales reported by Google are $8.13 billion, compared to average estimates of $8.41 billion. Colin Gillis, analyst at BGC Partners LP in New York explained his disappointment. “A lot of what Larry Page is doing is a lot more tolerable to investors when the business is firing on all cylinders.”
