GigaOm Buys Off PaidContent For An Undisclosed Amount

The digital-media GigaOm who ownes the popular tech blog with the same name is reportedly buying the digital-media news oriented site paidContent.org from Guardian News & Media , based in London. GigaOm also acquired all the available assets of ContentNext Media (parent company), which includes MacoNets.net, ContentSutra.com and PaidContent:UK. That’s a lot of aquistions in such a relatively time.

PaidContent is very excited with the developments especially since, apparently ContentNext and GigaOM have so many goals in common and share a similar cultural background. Both companies believe in the power of breaking news and aim to bring users the smart, useful content they really need in every day life. Also both seem to practice the creed that profitable business can be build if one decides to follow such principles.

The exact details of the transactions were not disclosed to the public, but it is believed that paidContent was worth a fraction of the initial $6.5 million that the Guardian paid for ContentNext when they were acquired back in 2008. Even with these changes, Staci Kramer will remain the main editor of paidContent while the executive editor Ernie Sander will change camps and be in charge of Giga Omni Media.

“The combined group will be a powerhouse”, boasted Kramer and Sander writing on the official paidContent site, when announcing the transaction. The fact that they both seem so confident and hopeful in the report, sure points towards a fruitful future collaboration.
