This was a cinematic courtroom scene where apple’s chief of marketing department faced a critical situation. Fortunately enough for apple, he made the climax turned in her favor. The hearing of Apple vs Samsung patent trial was being carried out. Phil Schiller, marketing chief for Apple was asked by the Samsung attorney William Price to answer whether the next iPhone, iPhone 5, will have a new look or not. This was a very shocking question for Phil Schiller.
Because on one hand Phil Schiller was under oath to tell the truth. On the other hand answering the question would expose confidential data which will be another type of oath breaking as he is committed to apple too.
In such a dilemma attorney of Apple placed objection. They were in hope that the judge will sustain their objection. But the U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh overruled their objection and allowed attorney of Samsung William Price to ask the question. At first nervous Phil Schiller later smartly handled the situation by saying, “I prefer not to tell confidential information about future products!”
This could be a digester for Apple as it is going to release a new version of iPhone soon. Revealing the information could hurt their marketing strategy. After Phil Schiller’s reply Samsung attorney didn’t created further pressure to answer that question.
