Many of us have been tortured by the human verification method known as CAPTCHA. The method comprises of having to read text off obscure images so as to block automated spam. However, the method is quite a hassle and now, Minteye is providing a very cool alternative to that.

CAPTCHA

The problem with CAPTCHA is that it is not fool-proof. An automated spam software can trick it and pass the verification. Moreover, for actual users, the process of having to pen down the text from obscure images is quite a hassle. Sometimes, the images are simply unreadable and at others, one can easily be fooled into reading an ‘m’ as two ‘n’s and so on.

Mint-eye is a new start-up which has now come up with an excellent alternative. The alternative requires no typing. Rather, all you have to do is set an image by moving a slider across a scale. Once you are able to orient the image correctly, it verifies that you are human.

The best thing about this image-based verification is that when the user intently works on the image to set it right, he spends many precious seconds focusing on it. This gives the advertisers an excellent opportunity – they can replace the image with their ads which the user will inevitably look at keenly.

So now only does Minteye provides a better and fun way to bolster the security of your website, it also allows you to make money in the process of doing so. Below is one example of the method envisioned by Minteye.
