Although months have passes since iPhone 4S was launched, hooking the world up to Siri, the hype still hasn’t died out. Users who don’t have iPhone 4S still want to lay their hands on Siri and up until now, there was no way to do so but through Apple’s servers, which essentially made it illegal. However, with i4Siri, you can use Siri without having to use Apple’s servers. It’s absolutely legal and the best part is that for now, it is free!

One thing is quite clear that Apple’s Siri is not tied to the hardware used by iPhone 4S. This is because through a number of jailbreaking tools, Siri has been used on older Apple devices and seems to run perfectly smooth on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPad 2 and iPod Touch 4G. And that is why, developers have been working to have the Siri running on independent, non-Apple servers. And now, much to the delight of non-iPhone 4S users, they have succeeded.

i4Siri is team has tied the Siri functionality to their own i4Siri servers so that not only you get to have a great Siri experience on earlier Apple devices, it also is very legal. This is how you can try your hands on the free version of i4Siri:

You need to have an Apple device which is jailbroken.

1- Open Cydia and install ‘Spire’, a tweak developed by chpwn.

2- Once you have installed ‘Spire’, open device Settings application and go to General > Siri. Once you are there, make sure that toggle is set to ‘On.’

3- Go to the root of ‘Settings’ menu and select Spire. Once in the Spire, go to Spire settings menu and in the proxy URL field, add ‘https://i4sirifree.mooo.com/’

4- Open Mobile Safari and go to http://i4siri.com/installcertificate.html

5- Install the certificate, activate Siri on your device and let the fun begin.

For now, i4Siri is offering free support but it has plans to offer premium version of the service some time soon. You can run the free version on your device and see if it’s good enough.
