iRobot Adds Wireless Command Center To New $700 Roomba Cleaner Robot

You are probably familiar with the iRobot Roomba – a vacuum cleaning robot. iRobot announced on Tuesday that it has added a new vacuum-cleaning robot in this series –Roomba 790. The company has added a wireless command center with the new design. The wireless command center allows users to control the cleaner robot wirelessly from anywhere in the house.

Bedford’s iRobot Corp makes two kinds of robots. One is a consumer line of products such as the Roomba and the other is designed for the military services and law enforcement agencies. In the consumer line of product sector, the company’s new Roomba Vacuum 790 is an upgraded version of its predecessor Roomba Vacuum 780. Roomba Vacuum 780 weighs 8.4 lbs. It is 13.9 inches in diameter and 3.6 inches in height. It is different from Roomba 780 as the Roomba 790 has wireless command center, which was missing in Roomba 780.

The wireless command center allows the user to control various cleaning tasks and functions from virtually anywhere in the home. Users can set up a weekly cleaning schedule, or immediately send the robot to clean up. Users can manually maneuver the bot out from under a bed or anywhere it gets itself stuck. Using the steering function, a user can guide the Roomba to go to especially dirty spots and activate it to clean the area immediately. Besides, there are two virtual wall lighthouses to set up virtual boundaries. Users will also get side brushes, beater brushes, and a bristle brush, along with brush cleaning tools.
