Due to breaking copyright laws, authorities in US have seized three domains. US Department of Justice said on Tuesday that those websites were involved in distributing copies of Android applications. The seized three domains are applanet.net, appbucket.net and snappzmarket.com where FBI notice is now showing. FBI worked with French and Dutch law enforcement officials for seizing the websites. Because some servers location were outside of US.
As part of the operation, FBI has executed nine search warrants in several US states. Assistant attorney general, Lanny A. Breuer said that “Cracking down on piracy of copyrighted works -including popular apps – is a top priority of the [Justice Department’s] Criminal Division.”
He also added “Software apps have become an increasingly essential part of our nation’s economy and creative culture, and the Criminal Division is committed to working with our law enforcement partners to protect the creators of these apps and other forms of intellectual property from those who seek to steal it.”
