Nokia Apologizes Over Faked Lumia 920 PureView Ad

Nokia recently launched two new flagship Windows Phone devices at its Windows Phone 8 event. Among these, the Lumia 920 PureView pretty much mesmerized the world with its powerful hardware, sleek looks and exceptionally good camera. Nokia ran an ad to demonstrate the video-capturing capabilities of 920 PureView but later it turned out to be untrue.

It was found out that in the advertisement, the video that is shot isn’t actually shot using a Lumia 920. Soon after Nokia launched the ad, tech bloggers noticed this. This was in contrast to the impression that Nokia had given, which was that the video was captured by 920 PureView.

The original video had been shot to demonstrate benefits of optical image stabilization (OIS), a feature which comes with Lumia 920. However, the video produced is of a far better quality and is not shot by Lumia 920, as has been confirmed by Nokia in an official apology.

In order to clearly demonstrate the performance of a Lumia 920 camera now, Nokia has posted a new video which shows video captured by Lumia 920 with OIS side by side with the video captured by a device without OIS. The difference in the quality of the videos does demonstrate the superior camera of Nokia’s handset. You can watch the video posted below to have an idea.
