Microsoft Surface Tablet Launching Tonight 10 PM Local Time

After a severely long waiting period, Microsoft is set to launch their Surface tablet tonight at 10 PM local time in North America. Over 60 big-box stores have received stock of the Microsoft tablet for tonight’s launch. Microsoft will sell two entry level Surface tablets — a Surface RT with a Touch Cover and another without.

With the Surface tablet, Microsoft is beginning a whole new journey in the tablet market. A highly touted feature of the Surface tablet is ClearView technology — which reduces glare in comparison to competitors. The display is designed to reflect glare, whereas the iPad doesn’t offer any such solution.

The Surface RT tablet offers a display resolution of 1366-by-768 and Microsoft actually claims its Surface is an improvement over the iPad’s 2048-by-1536 resolution. Microsoft will initially offer two base models — one with a 3-millimeter Touch Cover & keyboard and another without the cover. The cover connects firmly to the tablet via three-magnets and can easily be pulled off.

Starting tonight, the Surface RT can be purchased at $499 for the 32 GB version (without keyboard cover) and $619 for the 32 GB model with the keyboard cover. Consumers also have the option to purchase a 64 GB model Surface RT with the keyboard cover.
