Low-End Asus Jelly Bean Tablet Spotted In Benchmarks

Benchmarks posted online are often a popular source of discerning the upcoming devices. A new Asus tablet has been spotted at GLBenchmarks recently. From the hardware details divulged by the benchmarks, it is a relatively low-end tablet. From the specs experts are speculating it to be cheaper Nexus 7,  without the Google branding.

Tablet

Nearly all the specifications of this 7-inch tablet are lower than Google’s Nexus 7 which was also manufactured by Asus. The model number of this mysterious device is Asus ME172V and it packs a 1GHz processor, although we are not sure how many cores does the tablet host.

Moreover, the tablet also packs a Mali-400 graphics core and runs Android Jelly Bean. The display is 1024 x 600 pixel in resolution which is far lower than what Google Nexus 7 packs. Nexus 7 hosts a 1280 x 800 resolution display.

What kind of punctures the theory that this may be a cheaper Nexus 7 is the fact that it also features a microSD card slot. None of Google’s Nexus devices have hosted a microSD card slot and there is no reason that Google is going to ditch this tradition any time soon.

Another possibility that has been cited by many is that the tablet is solely Asus’ owned venture and the company is readying it to be marketed in such countries where Google’s Nexus 7 is not being offered officially. In other words, this may include a number of developing nations which certainly are a huge market with potential.
