CES 2013: Hyundai Announces Apple’s Siri Eyes Free Mode For Its Cars

Back in 2012, Apple revealed its plans of bringing its flagship voice-based personal assistant, Siri, to vehicles of notable auto vendors. Since then, the company has partnered with a number of companies, including Honda, Audi, BMW and others. Hyundai has now announced at CES 2013 that it will also be bringing Siri Eyes Free Mode to its cars.

Siri has been hailed as the best voice-based personal assistant that is available on a commercial scale. And there is much truth to that, given the near-accurate performance of Siri for most native speakers. Since its success, Apple has been trying to push the software into arenas other than the mobile market.

The Eyes Free mode of Siri essentially allows drivers to interact with their iPhones without having to reach for the phone or using it with their hands. Rather, the drivers can keep their eyes on the road, continue driving and interact with the device simply with their voice. The feature brings the ease of smartphone usage during driving while at the same time, mitigating the risks of accidents.

This new partnership between Hyundai and Apple means that we will soon see the Siri Free Eyes mode in a number of Hyundai cars. The auto vendor didn’t tell exactly when we may be able to see a Hyundai car packed with this feature become available yet we do expect it to be soon.
